Dr. Gunjan Desai is an accomplished and compassionate Gastrointestinal and Cancer Surgeon with a distinguished academic and clinical background. A Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (England), he has performed and assisted in over 4,000 surgeries, encompassing complex cancer and non-cancer procedures through both open and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques. A life member of the National Minimal Access Surgeons Society, Dr. Desai is highly skilled in advanced laparoscopic surgeries and is recognized for his precision, patient-centric care, and surgical innovation. With numerous internationally indexed publications, Dr. Desai is the lead author of the world’s largest study on Mixed Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (MiNENs) of the gastrointestinal tract and has co-authored significant multicentre research on colonic diverticulitis and neuroendocrine tumors. He has represented his work at prestigious international conferences and has mentored aspiring surgeons in both clinical and academic research.
Dr. Desai is also a respected medical author and educator. He is the Chief Editor and Author of the widely used textbook “Exam Preparatory Manual of Surgery for Undergraduates” (Jaypee Publications), now in its second edition, and contributed a chapter to the renowned American HPB textbook on hilar cholangiocarcinoma and portal vein resection. As a founder and Director of Edusurg Clinics, a government-recognized healthcare education startup, he has received international recognition from the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) for raising cancer awareness.
